BARGAIN HUNT

We hung the posters promoting the school market 10 days before the initiative took place so that everybody could see them.

We held our bargain hunt on Saturday 5^th June 2010 from 9.30 to 1.30 p.m. The teachers asked us  students to help them to set up the “stalls” and arrange the merchandise. In order to collect more money, we decided  to bring some cakes to be sold at the school market. Our  families were really cooperative and all the  mothers made cakes and biscuits.

Since our school has got about 1400 students we were told  to “book” our  visit to the market in advance so that there wouldn’t be too many people at the stalls.

The students involved in the Comenius team helped  with the sale: a really big number of students and school workers bought our goods and we sold almost everything. The first items to go were the USBs and the fans and if we had had more we’d have certainly sold them!!

The people didn’t appreciate much the recipe books as they involved translating the recipes and it was probably too much trouble for them!  So we gave the ones left over as gifts.

We collected   258 euro and we decided to give the money to our school to be used for needy students: actually, in our school’s balance sheet there’s an item where the money saved from general expenses is paid in to financially support  needy families to pay for books, stationery and tickets.

The initiative was successful and everybody appreciated the purpose it had been intended for.
